Are sleep and dieting related?
If you had to choose one favourite thing your
body has to do in order to stay alive, many would say either sleeping or
eating. That is because the majority of us get enjoyment out of our food whilst
many of us also love a good relaxing session and being taken to another world
with our dreams. Imagine if sleeping and dieting were related and sleeping
could in actual fact help you lose weight.
Extensive medical evidence has suggested that
there are links between sleep and weight. Although it may sound unbelievable,
researchers have discovered that the amount of sleep we as human beings get can
have a positive affect on our appetites. Of course there are a few variables
with this, one of which being the quality of your sleep.
Although it may be hard to believe, sleep and
sleep disruption can do extraordinary things to our bodies, which can include
having an influence on our weight. This comes from David Rapoport, MD,
associate professor and director of the Sleep Medicine Program at the New York
University School of Medicine in New York City.
Doctors in the past have spoken about how
hormones can affect our sleep but never really unleashed the fact that sleep
can have a positive affect on our weight loss. Research has now proven that
hormones leptin and ghrelin can influence our appetite. Studies also show that
the amount our body’s produce of these two hormones can be influenced by how
well we sleep.
Leptin is a type of hormone that crushes our appetites and let's our brain
know once we have stored enough fat in our body. Unfortunately when we put on
those dreaded lbs., this is a sign that the leptin in our bodies is not working
to its full potential. Our minds begin to fight the signals that the leptin
sends and as a result we may eat more than our bodies need, which causes us to
put on weight. There are ways to increase the levels of this hormone, which
include eating more anti-inflammatory foods such as fresh fruits, vegetables, cold-water
fish, nuts, beans and seeds.
Ghrelin on the other hand is a hormone that helps to increase your appetite. Whilst getting to work is also decreases your “fullness levels” and increases the amount of fat you store. It also fuels your brain to think that it wants more unhealthy foods, which might include sugary and fatty foods. When we as humans have high levels of ghrelin, it becomes very hard for us to lose weight or to maintain a desired weight. To help you lose weight you ideally want to suppress your ghrelin levels. You can do this by eating natural, wholesome foods such as vegetables, fruits, legumes, nuts, seeds, fish, chicken, eggs, turkey and lamb.

How Much Weight Could I Lose By Taking Green Coffee Bean Extract
What
Are Green Coffee Beans?
Green Coffee beans are simply coffee beans that have
not been roasted, hence the green appearance in their natural, raw state. When coffee beans are roasted, recognisable
for the distinctive taste and colour for our daily cup of coffee, they lose a
naturally occurring antioxidant-rich compound called chlorogenic acid. Their effects were featured on the world
famous Dr Oz TV show which highlighted these findings as it is believed by diet
and health professionals that chlorogenic acid can significantly give a boost
to weight loss, (some studies have shown up to double the weight lost when
compared with dieters not taking any supplement) which is why green coffee
beans are now found in so many weight loss products.
Drinking green coffee beans as a beverage would be very
unappetising and is reported to have quite a bitter flavour, which is why green
coffee extract is used in many supplements to help boost weight loss.
How
Can Green Coffee Beans Aid Weight Loss?
This chlorogenic acid reduces the amount of glucose in
the blood by using it as energy; the body then has to burn fat cells as energy
by thermogenesis, which then leads to weight loss.
The chlorogenic acid slows down the process of the
glucose entering the bloodstream reducing the fat absorption which then leads
to weight loss. Studies have shown that chlorogenic acid can help the liver to
break down the fat faster.
Green coffee bean extract could help to lower the
levels of insulin which helps to improve metabolism and control weight
maintenance, ideal for people who struggle to sustain their weight.
Additional
Benefits Of Green Coffee Beans
The antioxidants in green coffee beans act as a shield
against environmental influences and harmful free radicals, even helping to
prevent premature ageing.
The chlorogenic acid in green coffee extract can also
help reduce hypertension (high blood pressure) and reduce the risk of heart
conditions. Chlorogenic acid is also proven to help prevent type 2 diabetes
which is often caused through being overweight and having high blood pressure.
It can have favourable effects on diseases such as
Parkinson’s disease and helps to relieve inflammation.
What
To Look For In A Good Green Coffee Bean Extract
There are a few recommended guidelines to look for when
choosing a green coffee supplement, the first thing to check is that the
product contains either Svetol or GCA, these are the only extracts that have
been clinically proven to work. Also ensure that the concentration of
Chlorogenic acid is at least 45% to be effective.
As for dosing, the recommended amount to take is at
least 400mg 3 times a day.
Green Coffee Bean Extract is suitable for virtually
all, there have been no side effects reported, however experts do suggest that
if you are pregnant, breast feeding, or under 16 that you should seek medical
advice before taking any form of green coffee in supplement form.

Healthy Swaps At Your Christmas Dinner
As you get all set for your holiday meal,
one thing that you’ll want to be taking into account is what type of swaps you
can be making to help improve the total calorie count, bringing it down while
increasing the nutritional value of the foods that you’re eating.
While it is to be somewhat expected that
you will likely consume a few more calories during this meal than most meals,
if you are smart in your approach, it doesn’t have to get out of hand.
Let’s take a quick peak at some of the top
healthy swaps that you should consider for your Christmas dinner.
Exchanged
Mashed Potatoes For Mashed Sweet Potatoes
The first healthy swap to make at your
Thanksgiving dinner is to exchange mashed potatoes for mashed sweet potatoes
instead. Sweet potatoes are rated lower
overall on the GI index and are not going to cause the insulin spike that
mashed potatoes would.
To further improve this dish, mash the
sweet potatoes with a little chicken broth rather than butter. This will help
ensure that you aren’t adding extra fat to the dish.
Exchange
Prepared Cranberry Sauce For Home-Made Cranberry Sauce
Moving along, the next smart exchange to
make is to trade cranberry sauce that you purchase in the supermarket for
cranberry sauce you make on your own.
Cranberries themselves are very healthy to eat, but the problem is that
the supermarket variety is far too high in simple sugars.
When preparing your own, add Splenda or
Stevia for added sweetness and you’ll bring down the calorie count while
reducing the impact this sauce has on your blood sugar levels.
Exchange
Pumpkin Pie For Yogurt Parfaits
When it comes to desserts, rather than
opting for pumpkin pie, which is loaded with fat and calories, go for some
yogurt parfaits instead. These will
still give a very dessert-like feel and will be high in protein, high in fiber,
and high in healthy fats.
Spoon some Greek yogurt into a tall glass,
top with some fresh berries, add a sprinkling of slivered almonds or flaxseeds
and then repeat this process over again.
Exchange
Bread Stuffing For Quinoa Stuffing
Finally, the last healthier swap to make
for your thanksgiving meal to help improve the overall nutrition of it is to
exchange bread stuffing for quinoa stuff.
Bread stuffing prepared inside the turkey
is very high in saturated fat and simple carbs, but if you prepare quinoa
stuffing outside of the turkey, being sure to add plenty of fresh vegetables as
you make it, you’re going to dramatically bring down the fat and calorie
intake.
Make sure you keep your serving size under
control and you will be able to add this into your diet without worry.
So there you have the primary things that
you need to keep in mind for creating a healthy Thanksgiving dinner. If you think carefully about a few simple
exchanges you can make, this meal doesn’t have to leave you frustrated when you
step on the scale the next morning.
Be sure to also check out Phen 375, which
will help reduce the risk of weight gain during the holiday season.
